Have you ever walked past Le Refuge du Poète?

This quietly charming 1854 home has been home to a four-room B&B for several decades. Louise and Frédéric — mother and son — welcome travelers with a rare kind of hospitality, the kind that comes from the heart and invites you to slow down.
At Le Refuge du Poète, you unpack your bags in an intimate setting, created with the sincere desire of the hosts to help you discover Quebec in a different way. Through warm exchanges, slow mornings, and attention to detail, you experience the region from a sensitive and vibrant perspective.

Their passion for world cultures, especially enriched by their many travels in India, shines through in the atmosphere of the guesthouse. In every room, a calming, almost meditative ambiance lingers. Breakfast often becomes a moment of connection where languages, stories, and silences intertwine.

Louise and Frédéric notice a timeless constant in their guests: the same need for meaning, peace, and humanity. For those seeking to escape, even without going far, Le Refuge du Poète is just nearby.

Whether you are seeking rest or curious to explore the region, Le Refuge du Poète welcomes you in a historic Canadian home in the heart of Old Longueuil, close to all services, restaurants, cafés, and transportation.
In summer, Saint-Charles Street becomes pedestrian-only and comes alive each week with over 100 free activities: outdoor dance nights (Latin, country, cumbia), musical performances, cinema under the stars, street theater, circus, exhibitions, artisan markets, and much more. To close the season in style, Lumifest lights up the neighborhood with artistic installations, concerts, and street food in a magical atmosphere.
In winter, the neighborhood lights up with the Christmas Market and Traditions, set up right across from the guesthouse in St-Marc Park: enchanting little houses, local artisans, outdoor shows, fire pits, and winter treats create a magical atmosphere not to be missed. To extend the experience, Mount Royal offers cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skating on Beaver Lake, and breathtaking views of the city, while nearby Michel-Chartrand Park also provides a chance to escape into nature. Just a few metro stops away, the Snow Festival at Jean-Drapeau Park features sledding, skating, and family activities. And for a touch of Quebecois tradition, several sugar shacks are less than an hour’s drive away—perfect for a delicious day among maples and folklore.
Located about 25 minutes from downtown Montreal, and very close to Île Sainte-Hélène with access to the Old Port via the water shuttle, our guesthouse is the perfect starting point to explore everything the region has to offer — with comfort, tranquility, and authenticity. It’s also a great opportunity to immerse yourself in Quebecois culture, experiencing its rhythm, traditions, and warm hospitality. Summer evenings are lively but respectful, with activities winding down around 10 p.m. to ensure peaceful nights.
And that’s not all: not only are our rates very competitive, but a Quebecois continental breakfast is included in the price — a little morning treat to start your day off right.
